Microsoft today made a mock of Apple’s latest devices iPhone 5S and 5C with a series of 7 different videos titled “A fly on the wall in Cupertino?”. The seven videos which were uploaded by windowsphone on its official YouTube channel a while ago. The videos involve two of the employees making fun of the features in Apple’s latest smartphones in separate meetings in front of who looks like Apple CEO Tim Cook and Senior Vice President of Design Jony Ive from the back.
There is a little confusion whether Microsoft actually tried to make a mock of Steve Jobs or current CEO of Apple, Tim Cook. The series of 7 videos make fun of Apple’s Cheapest iPhone, iPhone 5C’s color variants, polycarbonate and its innovative materials, there are other which actually make fun of other new features which were announced for its devices such as ‘Finger print reader” and “8 MP camera” and also on its announcement “The Phone for Everyone”. In a video the employee also makes fun saying “Did we have to make the new iPhones in plastic to save money”.
Microsoft’s main intention with these videos was to reiterate that most of the features that Apple has on its latest smartphones are the ones copied from its windows run Lumia phones or on the ones which are already existing on the other devices. Making fun of their competitors is not an old art for Microsoft, as they had launched a variety of videos in a campaign called “Scroogled” against Google and its products.
PS / Update:
Microsoft seems to have removed all the videos from its windowsphone official Youtube channel hoping that it might lead to controversy and ignite the war of words or legal battle between the themselves and the Cupertino based Apple. Microsoft seems to be afraid of Apple who will not mind suing any company and because it has a history of winning almost any battle against any tech company. Microsoft might just be afraid after having tried to defame Apple’s latest devices.
