As announced in first half of August and after showcasing 30 different variations of its logo, one a day in the past month, Yahoo today finally launches its new, final & updated logo as expected. This is Yahoo’s first change of its logo since the company started 18 years ago. The logo has already started appearing across all the Yahoo properties and country level domains and is also live on its Yahoo India‘s site. We wanted a logo that stayed true to our roots (whimsical, purple, with an exclamation point) yet embraced the evolution of our products.
In a video Yahoo also revealed the craft behind its new logo.
TheVerge also interestingly notes that 2013 so far has been a big year for logos as many of the top tech companies in the world have revamped their logo.
It’s been a big year or so for the logos of prominent tech companies. Motorola, eBay, and Microsoft have all introduced new looks during that time. More recently, YouTube started using a different logo for its apps.
The company also came up with both light and dark backgrounds of its new logo on to give a clear idea about the logo to its users.
