Instagram, the Facebook owned popular photo & video sharing social networking application now has 150 Million active users as announced by the company on its official blog. The company also told that Instagram has gained 50 Million users in the past six months and 60% of its users are from non US countries.
According to TheVerge, Since being acquired by Facebook last year, Instagram has added more than 100 million users (128 Million users to be precise). The company has added 20 million users since June of this year.
Instagram which has never made a cent into the real business for Facebook ever since its acquisition a year ago as they never tried to monetizing the service with ads. Emily White, Director of Business Operations at Instagram has a huge challenge ahead of her as she is responsible for courting brand marketers and laying the foundation for advertising.
Instagram issued a statement to The Wall Street Journal as the director of business operations, Emily White made it clear about the plans of the service towards monetization in a statement, Ms. White said it should be ready to begin selling ads within the next year. “We want to make money in the long term, but we don’t have any short-term pressure”.
